My partner knows I wear diapers sometimes, but we've never really talked about what it means to me. I want to explain the comforting side without arriving with a prepared lecture. I'm not asking them to take on a role. I just don't want it to be a subject I keep stepping around.
That last sentence sounds like a decent place to start. It tells them why you want the conversation.
I said something very clumsy the first time. We survived the clumsy sentence. I had forgotten that was an option.
I'd leave room for them to think. I know I can get nervous and fill every silence with more explanation.
We talked over the weekend. I used the sentence from my post. They asked a few questions and said they might have more later. We didn't settle everything, but I'm glad I said it.
Glad you came back with the update. There doesn't have to be a perfect final sentence either.
