I'd been talking online to another guy for a while. Both adults, similar age, both interested in making friends rather than dating. We eventually arranged a coffee in town. Public place, our own transport, an hour or so. Nothing elaborate. The morning of it, I almost cancelled. I could imagine us saying hello, acknowledging that we both liked diapers, and then having absolutely nothing else to say. Online I'd had time to think before replying. In person I would have to produce words immediately. Unreasonable system, honestly. I went anyway. He was already there, looking at the menu with the concentration of someone taking an exam. That helped. I asked whether he'd been before. He said no, he'd picked it because the photos looked quiet. We had both done that thing where you inspect a café online before meeting someone. We talked about work for a bit, then about games. I discovered we disagree quite strongly about what counts as a relaxing game. The ABDL conversation came later, quietly, and mostly about how strange it felt to finally know someone we could discuss it with. We weren't putting on a display for the rest of the café. I stayed a little longer than I'd planned. On the way home I kept thinking of things I should have asked him. I'd spent so much time preparing for an awkward silence that I hadn't prepared for actually wanting another conversation. We haven't become instant best friends. We've exchanged a few messages and might meet again next month. I'm pleased with that. Has anyone else found the first meeting much easier, or harder, than the online chat?

Hugo

Harder, initially. I'm quite chatty in messages and much quieter face to face. I told the person beforehand that a quiet moment probably meant I was nervous, which took some pressure off. We went for a walk after coffee because sitting opposite each other felt a bit like an interview.

Mine was fine, but we didn't really click. I went home thinking I'd wasted the opportunity because other people describe these amazing first meetups. Later I realised we were just two people with one thing in common. We were polite, had a drink, and didn't arrange another. I would still try again with someone else.

Maxime

That's useful to hear too. I probably put too much weight on the shared ABDL interest beforehand. It got us talking, but the games argument was where I stopped being nervous.

Morgan

Now I want to know which game caused the argument.
